Do you ever wonder what you stand for and what will be your legacy? Are you living the life you dreamt of by making conscious, fulfilling decisions, or letting life pass you by?
In this thought provoking and enlightening book, organisational development specialist and executive coach Trina Skidmore, acts as our guide to help us find answers to these questions and more.
Trina reveals how understanding ourselves is the key to understanding others, and the way we manage relationships. Subconscious or programmed thoughts and actions, or simply responses to which we have given little thought, often control us. Discovering more about our beliefs, values and inner vows, helps us find the key to unlocking our subconscious thoughts and actions. In turn this will help us understand the daily – and hourly – impact our thinking has on the choices we make at work and at home.

Recognising where our values and beliefs originate from is an essential part of understanding ourselves. Another is being cognisant of how our emotions and feelings impact who we are.Emotions are directly linked to our thinking and thus to our behaviour. Emotions are key indicators to what we truly think, so they play a large role in understanding ourselves more deeply.
Have you ever been in a situation where your emotions got the better of you and you wished you had acted or responded differently? We all have. When we recognise these moments, these feelings, only then can we manage our emotions, our thinking, and respond appropriately.
Unfortunately many of us have developed great skill in quashing or ‘managing’ our emotions and not really acknowledging how we feel, even to the point of viewing emotions as uncontrollable and/or irrational. We have become clumsy at detecting them, listening to the information they bring, and using their energy to propel us into constructive action and conversation. Managing your emotions does not mean suppressing them. It is about acknowledging them, understanding what they are trying to tell you, and using this knowledge to enhance a situation or to improve an outcome. Indeed, we feel something every moment of the day, yet we often block out this important information about what’s going on within and around us....
This book is designed to facilitate your journey in finding the missing elements to living a life you choose, elements that are within your reach. This life may be one filled with contentment, peace, and tranquillity or it may be a life of passion, excitement and worldly achievement – whatever you desire, whatever you choose. It is written in your heart; you just need to look inside.
